Default Daymn... 700 buckz just to change brakes..

today i went to Midas to get my brakes inspected. all i needed was my daymn brake pad changed but they told me that i had to do all this other shit which equaled up to almost 800 dollars. for that price i could get aftermarket brakes, calipers and rotors.. is 800 bucks worth it to replace the calipers and resurface the rotors and new brake pads??

That is a ripoff. Buy the parts and do it yourself for a fraction of that.

Why did they say that you needed new calipers?

Alot of popular mechanic shops like midas or jiffylube will take advantage of you, they figure you trust them, and alot of people don't necessarily know what a throw out bearing is, or the 710 cap on your engine :chuckles:

What did you have done all together?

wned: by Midas.

Take your car elsewhere and get a second opinion. They are most likely taking advantage of you, so be smart and take it to someone that actually knows what they are doing.

To resurface rotors, you want to take them off the car and take them to a machine shop or mechanic. They have the proper tools to do it for you.

factory honda pads -$40
getting rotors resurfaced at checker auto parts - $12 each rotor
probably can even take the rotors to local brake shop to resurface them for you too

OEM rotors are not that much. I got my rears for $9 each. You could get all new calipers, brembo blanks all around, decent pads, and even paint the calipers for $400 or less
