Turbo piping owns these two hands down, right now I'm saving up for my turbo. I have the AEM Cold Air Intake, I rather have cold air than hot air.

Do you guys think a heat shield really works for a short ram intake?

It helps slow the progression of ambient heat from the engine but once the whole engine bay is heated up (stop light, staging) then it's ineffective.

It sounds like you're just a street driver. Don't race on the street. So a CAI is best for you. Get AEM V1 or fabricate one with a K&N cone filter (just copy an AEM V1 dimensions). Or get a cheap Ebay CAI and toss the filter and get a K&N instead.

Well I have to get a hybrid intake and I do race on the street but not very often, only if someone challenges me. But I like power and to pass up cars

keep the racing on the track.

as far as the intake goes...it is not going to get you power to pass up cars.

I know to race on the track, I do. So what intake would be best for track racing?

I say if you're wanting a good intake system, get either a Comptech Icebox or an ARC. I personally would stay with an airbox design to keep throttle response.

if a system uses a maf, the objective is to have the maf as close to the throttle body as possible. and the longer the tube u use, (AEM IS BS) . the hotter the air temp when it reaches the TB. I suggest shortest as possible.

what kind of track racing?

what other modifications do you have on the motor. an intake alone will do little or nothing?

No,No,No.........The "hybrid" intake manufactured by AEM is for cars that have engine swaps, (Civic w/ H22 or something like that) And yes they have been made.
