It helps slow the progression of ambient heat from the engine but once the whole engine bay is heated up (stop light, staging) then it's ineffective.

It sounds like you're just a street driver. Don't race on the street. So a CAI is best for you. Get AEM V1 or fabricate one with a K&N cone filter (just copy an AEM V1 dimensions). Or get a cheap Ebay CAI and toss the filter and get a K&N instead.
