Default thumping noise after suspension install

so finally today i finished my omni full suspension install but now only in the rear when hitting bumps i hear a thumping noise coming from both sides. i preloaded and adjusted ride height then locked all the collar locks then tightned the nut at the top of each strut. anyone have this problem before?

omni comes pre assembled, it was already on the shock. after driving to work today i noticed that the jaring noise only happens with sharp little bumps rather than larger bumps that use more of the suspensions travel. it honestly sounds like somthing is loose but i have checked everything twice.

many omni's have this problem I have found. One of mine does it, I took everything back apart and inspected it and everythign is good, what I concluded is that because there is no rubber stopper above the upper plate, sometimes on certain cars, the upperplate can rock side to side if it doesn't sit completely flush. You know how it is only held in by 2 nuts, well I think it rocks side to side, perpendicular to those two nuts

think i could get a thin piece of rubber to put in between to shut it the hell up? have you used anything to remedy your noisy shocks? now that i think about it, when removing the old rear suspension i noticed that it had a rubber ring around the top of the part that sits flush with the chasis. i bet i need somthing like that. maybe ill just reuse the old rubber and fasten them to the omni's.

I had this same exact problem. I still do. Honestly I think you are gonna have to deal with it unless you find something that works. i sent my coilovers back to omnipower i think 2 times and they sent them back, said they replaced the shock, and i still have the same problem. its just kind of annoying. i think for me, it was really noticeable cause ive never driven in a lowered car. and omni's are pretty stiff. so, unless you can find a way to minimize the sound, i think you'll just have to deal with it. and if you do find something that minimizes the sound, LET ME KNOW! lol good luck bro

so is it the strut or the upper plate that is making the noise?

I believe its the upper perch, like bambrose stated. The part that has the 2 bolts that bolt to the frame, well, i believe in certain situations it is still able to rock from side to side. and ive asked about putting a thin rubber piece between the upper perch and car, and ive been told it would hurt the performance of the suspension. as of right now, im just dealing with it, its kind of grown on me and i dont notice it as much. but if you decide to experiment and find something out, make sure you post it on here. oh, dont bother sending it back to omnipower, its just a waste of shipping charges.

yeah. im gonna experiment after work today. my uncle has some old rubber roofing. its about a 16th of an inch thick and dense as a basdtard. ill try making a template and attatching a piece on each perch. i just think its funny how the front dosnt make a damn noise. i must say, i love the ride. it is rigid as all hell but very smooth on the highway. i even drove over some grooved pavement and it was still pretty smooth.

yeah, i love it. its just the damn annoying noise from the back, that would be my only complaint.
