Default Exhaust Fitment

Ok, my buddy's got a Apex'i Dunk on his 97 Coupe and needs to sell cause he's goign turbo and needs a 3" exhaust. He'll sell it to me for $300, which is a great deal. I want to buy it but I need to know if it fits.
So will it fit on my 92 Hatch? I heard it would but is this true?

If it's the entire exhaust system, (muffler and piping) it would not fit. Even if it was the same generation car, if one is a hatch and the other is a coupe/sedan, it's not going to fit.

What if I could find a Dunk made for a 96-00 Hatch? Could that fit? I really like the Dunk, it's the only canister style exhaust that I really like the looks of besides the old tanabe g madallion.
