Default Having sunroof issues

Ok, I have a 95 Civic EX with the electric glass sunroof. I use my sunroof a lot and last night on my way home I noticed it giving me a hard time. It would open fine, but closing it would actually come to a stop. I'd have to back it up, then try to reclose it. I get it closed, but I'm confused as to what's causing it.

Things I'm thinking:

a. something jacked w/the fuse
b. something jacked inside the switch for the sunroof
c. motor dying on me
d. need to lube the track?

Any advice would be appreciated, especially from some of you who have had this problem before.

Thanks,
Mindi

Werd!

Fuse will not affect power, either is working or it's blown.

Motor could be getting weak.

Switch is most likely not the problem, unless it's contacts are severly corroded or something.

I had the same problem, but I dont know if it is the same reason. My car battery was almost dead, my lights were dim and the sunroof wouldn't really move.

Hm,well this weekend I'll get in there and clean it up. What should I use to clean it and then lubey lubey it?

I'll start with that first, and if that doesn't fly, I'll check the switch and if that's good, I guess I'll start with the motor. Ugh. I hope it's not that. I JUST spent 1500 in parts on my car 3 weeks ago.

dude, i know how you feel, when i bought my suspension, camber kit and short shifter (all at the same time) i dropped $900 and the VERY NEXT DAY i had a wheel bearing start to go so i checked it out and noticed that i had a rip in my cv boot. i was so pissed but i didnt return anything i just drove it and dealt with the noise of the wheel bearing for 2 weeks untill my mecanic could pencil me in and pack that thang back up. when he pulled my axle he had me come down and check it out. thing was destroyed. i was surprised it actually still functioned. so i then bought a re-manu axle and had that done too. i hate those unexpected repairs that screw you over.

Just got finished with:

New clutch
Rebuilt tranny
All belts
Wheel bearings
Rotors
Calipers
Pads
Tie rod ends
Pirelli p zero nero tires

Chaching. So yeah, to have this sunroof going whack on me is frustrating.

hey man. i have that very same problem. i drive a 92 civic si. mine was not a lube problem, or electric. my problem is that when the sunroof tries closing (from an all the way open position), it pushes forward just a little bit too much and gets wedged/jammed/stuck on the right side of the front part of the roof. its hard to explain, but the result of that was that the back of the sunroof wouldnt drop into place. i could get it all the way forward, but the back wouldnt drop. so like yourself, i have to bring it back and forth until it finaly decides to drop into place. it was giving me a real hard time at first until i realized what it was. if you dont want to sit there for a while trying to close the thing there is a quick way i found to doing it. stand beside the car, hit the close switch threw your open window(or whatever) and put pressure pushing back on the sunroof as its reaching its place all the way forward. doing this will prevent the sunroof from moving too far forward and wedging the rubber seals together. im not sure why the car does this. but that i believe is the problem your having.

hope this helps you and anybody else that might have this problem now or in the future.

That's a good temp fix, but I want to reallly fix it ya know? Not rig it for the time being. Ya know?

Thanks for the good idea though. I'll use that if I have to for temp.

Any idea what I should clean the track with?
