It does not even feel like you lost in hp or torque, also like the guy said if you see a 3 foot puddle, dont try to go through it. The bypass valve gives you a piece of mind.

Well, the hybrid intake is a one piece design, so where would the bypass go? Right after the filter or before the throttle body or would you suggest cut the $200 CAI in half?

You dont even need a bypass valve as long as you're not offroading the car. The filter won't get wet as long as you stay out of huge puddles.

ohh but if you want that bypass valve in there, you have to cut it. also, the biggest thing that the cai does for the combustion is gives a better burn, makes it run smoother. I have owned both and know from experience that you have to hit one hell of a puddle inorder to submerge it, but by the same token, cai's are more expensive. About a 100 bucks more for 1ftlb of torque, there is no justification there.

I know from personal experience that ~8 inches of water will stall out a VX with an AEM cold air intake due to water induction. This "it has to be fully submerged in water to hydrolock" thing is BS.
