Default B16A2 head removal

I just picked up this 2000 civic Si, and have not even bought a manual. I did a search and came up empty.

When removing the head, the timing belt and pulleys should come off. Where is the timing belt tensioner adjustment? I tried to reference it back to an older manual that I have, but no dice.

Thanks

And, if anyone has an online PDF format of the shop repair manual, can you shoot me a link please....

The timing belt will have to be removed and the cams have to come out of the head in order to access the head bolts. The cam gears do not have to be removed.

Right on. Thanks. I dont think I have to completely remove the timing belt though. This link shows a way to do it with the timing belt still connected down low.

Thanks for the head's up on the cam bolts.

You don't have to completely remove it, just take it off the cams. But, I would remove it and reset it so that you are 100% sure you get it back on correctly. One way to do it is to set the motor at TDC with the cams pointing up and then using a silver sharpee to mark the timing belt at each cam gear and again at the crank gear (which requires the removal of the crank pully). This will ensure that you get it back on exactly as it was. That's what I do to make this procedure go faster.

thanks for the help man. Way ahead of you on the sharpie.

It is crazy...this car supposedly has a burnt valve at only 100K miles. I got the car for $2500.

Going to fix it, and sell it. And then I will sell my teg. I think I want to buy a 1994 Supra now.

Well, the head is cool, but one of the exhaust valves on cylinder 2 has a hole in it. That would explain all the problems.

Should be easy and cheap to fix.
