Default auto to manual transmission?

I have a 97 civic ex and unfortunatly it is an automatic and wanted to convert it to a manual transmission, and was wondering wether or not it would be possible to do it and if it would be worth the time, effort and of course the money to spend on it. Thanks for your input

Yes to all of the questions. It's not to hard if you know your way around a car.

it requires some amount of body work because where your automatic shifter is now will be taken out (duh) and then will have to cut a bigger whole for the manual. you will probably hear a "wisle" noise from air comming in unless they seal the remaning space shut. and then they have to cut another hole into your firewall to the clutch pedal.

if you have a d16, the price (if i remember correctly) was $1,250 for me.

Possible? Definately. If you have some free time, knowledge, and all the parts, go for it.

Cost-effective? Hell no. You can probably buy a manual trans car for less then you could sell yours for, so you'll have a pile of extra money and no automatic parts to get rid of.
