You can hook up a tach and keep your stock cluster or buy an lx, ex, hx, or si cluster and simply plug that it in

Do you want an aftermarket tach or just an OEM one? The OEM is cleaner and is plug and play. Just find a full cluster from the LX, EX, Si as mentioned above. Take a look in the online resources sticky next time too.

From Jafro regarding gauge cluster swappage
***
There is now a DIY in the tech forums concerning the swapping of gauge clusters for 5g and maybe 6g civics. I don't know what's new after '96, but I documented how I changed my cluster and kept the mileage on my odometer accurate. The thread is located HERE.

or here if you prefer...

There are also several other threads where this has been discussed at length. They can be found in these following threads...

When hooking up a tach there should be four wires to connect. Black to ground, white to any light, red to ignition, and green to tach wire. The tach wire is from the dizzy and is a yellow/black wire.

just buy a cluster with a tach in it, sooooo much easier than having to drill a hole somewhere in your dash or piller to mount the tach. plus the tachs are ricey anyway. i used to have one in my civic but i sold it because it looked like crap. do yourself a favor and save yourself the trouble and buy a cluster. i can sell you mine for a negotiated price :rick:
