Default D16Y8 Tips

I just recently picked up a d16y8 engine with tranny. I bought for $300 it has 25k miles on it and the seller sold it to me because they did an engine swap on their CIVIC 00.

I already have headers and a cat back exhaust for it. Does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations to get this SOHC engine running. No turbo or NOS, i would like an all motor setup. Money and time is not a problem as this engine is sitting in my shop waiting to get worked on. I have heard these engines can pump some serious HP's on the stock block.

Thanks in advance!

Sell it to me! You won't get past 140WHP all motor. Well maybe if you bore it out and put huge custom pistons in it. You could put on a I/H/E, cam, port and polish, intake manifold, vafc, get it tuned, and you still won't have 140whp. I really regret spending my money on I/H/E, and not getting my JRSC years ago.

Without a turbo, supercharger, or nitrous you really won't get a lot of power from a D16Y8. You may want to get rid of one of the headers too as it will only need one.

u can get near 190whp all motor with a d.... but it will cost you more than your house lol. seriously if you want any power out of it go with a hmt turbo setup. spend about 1000 and you'll be moving pretty fast. setups can be as cheap as a few hundred bucks(prolly 500 is the cheapest i've ever seen) and can go up to 1000000000000000000000 so its whatever goals you have and how much money you want to dish out.

visit www.turbod16.com and www.homemadeturbo.com

i'll finish up my engine project at about 2 grand. that includes the y8 mini-me, clutch flywheel the turbo setup and tuning

i seriously don't recommend all motor on a D its just too much money.
