My clutch in my Civic needs replacement. Would you venture to do this on your own or would you recommend a repair shop?
I have done a lot of work on autos but never an side mount engine.
I am a back yard tinkerer and not afarid to tackle things.
Buy the clutch your self and pay to get it installed. Its not too expensive and i seen a lot of people install their clutch wrong. Then again i guess it comes down to how experienced you are.
The tranny is heavy and a pain to realign, but that's about it. Just have to bulk up before the swap. Just remember not to put the clutch disc in backwards. That always sucks.

I'm curious. What have they done wrong? If you follow Helm's, Hayne's and Chilton's manuals carefully, you should be alright. I might do my own too thanks to westcoaststyle's step by step guide. (https://www.honda-acura.net/forums/s....php?p=1715569)

I dunno, we couldnt figure it out and we ended up taking it to a mechanic to have it fixed. It was on a 2003 celica. He installed a stage 2 performance clutch and ever thing seemed well on the install but then after test driving it would still slip and grind in between gears...BUT you should be alright with that step by step guide. His clutch was grinding like crazy though, i have no idea why but i know it cost him $150 to get it done "correctyl" which i think is that the original price to put a clutch on anyway.
