Default Quick Help! buddies civic ex

My buddy was just driving, and all of a sudden all his gauges dropped... in a couple seconds all of them came back to normal except the speedometer.
the CEL light is also on now. and the lights flicker.

anything like this ever happen to anyone....and, do u know how to fix it.

yeah.. some of my wires from the amp were touching each other... same thing happened... check for loose wires or some other wires touching the chassis...

when we took thew power off the battery the car died...... its the alternator correct?

Seems like it was running all battery. So I'd say have the alternator tested.

It could be. Take it somewhere and have it tested.

gauges dropping is a common problem associated with alternator failure. I've worked on a couple cars that would start with a good charged battery, but soon after driving down the road the battery would get weak and things would flicker and die sometimes.
