Default Acceleration Problem

Hey, I have a 92 Civic DX 5 speed, completely stock except for exhaust system. I have run into a problem accelerating lately. I accelerate fine all through 1st gear, but when I put it in second, and put the gas to the floor, it just revs, almost like the tires weren't catching. It does this with every gear I'm in, except for 1st. It's like I'm just cruising down the road in 3rd, and when I want to pass someone, I put the throttle to the floor, and it will accelerate slightly, but just end up revving like its in neutral or the tires aren't catching. I thought the snow tires I had on from winter might have been the problem, but I put on my summer tires and it still does this.

Does that mean I have to get the clutch replaced? How much would that cost about?

do you notice any kinda smell when this is occuring? maybe similar smell to brakes?

(if yes, then it's your clutch pads slipping & burning up)

sounds like what i have... i burned the clutch out 4 days after i got the car(my first time driving stick) and this bad smell came in the car... i hear a screetching noise everynow and then, the clutch engages and disingages near the top of the lift of the pedal... so i went to pep boys, and if i supply the clutch, they'll charge 440 for labor...

might want to check local or if u have a friend that has done it before and can do it for you, it will save you alot of money...

i do have a friend that can do it, but my dad wants it done prof. so i want it done right then too.
