Default Motor for my 93 civic dx

doing a swap in my civic, i want it to be easy and the least expensive i can get.
i was either a b18b or a b16

i was looking at totaljdm.com and hmotorsonline.com for motors, will any b18/b16 be compatible with my car, or do i have to get a certain year.

my buddy has a lude and hydrolocked it, and when he bought a new motor online, it was the wrong model, and i dont want that to happen to me.

thanks for all the help

What happend to doing your OWN research.
These swaps have been done over and over!!! Lots of info out there if you are willing to LOOK!

FYI,no b series motor will just drop right in.Your civic comes stock with a d series and nothing will transfer over from a b --> d series motors. If going to a B series motor your gonna need mounts, axles, etc...but now that i have given you that much go ahead and do some resesarch of your own.

They should be able to tell you which motor to get.Just make sure that you get the motor with the hydraulic transmission. The b16 should be 92+ and the b18b should be 94+ i beleive. So you will be looking to get a b16a2/3 or the b18b1 i beleive...
IMO i would go with the b18b1...

Lets see,this is not hard...
You have a 1993 civic making it OBD1 and you are going to need the hydraulic transmission

I believe that motor will work but that has a cable transmission...you need the motor with the hydraulic tranny...

just curious.

what are some 1/4 mile times from swapped civic with b16's vs. b18b's?

either...both in hatches..or both in coupes.

my buddy with a 93 hatch with a b16 was running 14.6's with race gas. does the b18b compare to that? time wise?

LS block with a b16 head would. I got my b16a 2 from japanmotorimport.com for 2200$ shipped. Two days transit.
