B16a trouble??
We just put a 2gen b16a in my friends 97Ex.The problem is there are some wires missing from the wiring harness there are suppose to be 3 going inot the ECU but we have 2 and the car won't go into v-tec.we have no idea what wire we are missing but think it does have something to do wit the car not going into v-tec.As of now the car won't even move cause the ECU is throwing mad codes and oh yea no tach or speedo does anyone have a clue to what wire we are missing? PLEASE HELP!!!!
For the tach and speed........... its the speed sensor or sumthing like that............... its on the tranny. Well atleast its on my h22a tranny, i assume its basically the same design, i just swapped my clutch and i forgot to plug that bitch back in, saved like 500 miles on my odometer tho lol. it should be like towards the back, you might have to take off the CAI or intake house whatever you got on there to get to it.
Well, what codes is it throwing? That'll be a good indication to what is fawked up.
VTEC oil pressure will keep it from switching over..there is a full list of VTEC faults that will keep it from switching to higher cam profile, let me see if I can find em.

that speed sensor will not allow you to go into vtec too, like i said i forgot to plug it back in after i swaped my clutch and i had no vtec, speedometer, and hit the rev limiter at 6500 instead of 7900 rpms

Well, I wonder if the revlimiter thing was just caused by your ECU being thrown into limpmode due to missing sensor voltages?
Yea i think thats y too, it happened to me before i clamp on my fuel hose broke and it went into that mod and i had no vtec and hit the revlimiter at 6500 rpms, but i am pretty sure they might have missed that sensor, its easy to miss, its towards the firewall on the back of the tranny
one of are friends think its the fuel injectors cause there obd1 injectors on a obd2 computer.if anyone can give us any hints to what is going on or if you have run into this problem your help would be greatly helpful we can't figure whats wrong and its being doing to this for two weeks now.lastnight it hit v-teconly but thats casue we reset the computer and no codes were thrown for that short sec now its all sluggish you can't even hit the gas hard it just barely moves we have to slowly get it up to speed to get anywhere.PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!
lets think bout this.. the VSS for the b16a tranny is cable & the VSS that used to be in your hydro tranny was electronic!
swap the VSS & plug it in!
EDIT: n/mind.. just realized that u said 2nd gen b16a..
explain your setup in detail!

also on the VSS for the B series it has nothing to do with the tach, the tach is a blue lead wire from the "coil". All the vss does is tell the speed.
setup is a stock 2nd gen b16a inot a 97 ex. problem is the car is really slugish which is problly the fuel injectors and car won't go into vtec at all.we reset the computer and it hit vect twice and thats it then it starts being all slugish and stuff we had to advance the timing to keep the car runing. Oh ya this is are first swap.
Thanks Chris
