I'm getting ready to change my head gasket hopefully to solve my car getting hot problem
Anyways
I was wondering if anyone has a write up for the process or have any tips or tricks on changing head gasket?
What all needs to be taken off?
Tools needed?
Tricks and Tips?
Thing to look out for?

the head gasket is what sits between the header and the block. use a 10mm socket to take off the bolts. slide the header off, take the old gasket off, and slide the new one on. make sure that the bolts are put back on nice and tight so no exhaust is leaking. also, not too tight to where you strip it (a friend did that to his on accident) If you try to torque it too much, you can easily break the bolt right off the block and you can say bye bye to that...good luck and if you have any problems, were here for you at HAN!

I'm about to do this and do a DIY for it. I just need to get some time to do it and all that. Expect a B18C1 DIY on this within the next couple weeks.

So why do garages charge so much for head gaskets and replacements? It's a 20 minute job.

I thougth that the Head Gasket went between the Block and Head. And the Exhaust gasket went between the the header and head.

The Exhaust gasket being exhast manifold gasket?

I wish it was a 20 min job

Exactly. Head gasket seals the head to the block. It's a VERY involved job and you might as well replace:

timing belt
tensioner
exhaust mani gasket
intake mani gasket
and an assortment of other gaskets/seals

You also have to drain your coolant to do the job.

Oh, I thought he meant just changing out the gasket sealing the header.

Even then I don't remember those bolts being 10mm's..
