Default hood dampers

ive been looking into putting hood dampers onto my eg6 instead of having the hood prop. has anyone done this before? ive seen ads for them by tein, but am probably just going to get some off of another car or buy some from napa or the hardware store if they carry them. i was looking under the hood and couldnt really find an area to mount them, there isnt a whole lot of room. anybody have any ideas?

thanks

I was concidering a set for my hood, because its cf and I dont like leaving it open for long periods of time, being supported only on one side.
I believe the tein ones attach to the hinges, and are vehicle specific.

With my CF trunk lid, I had to take mine of because they pushed it up. Even while latched. It does this becase cf is more flexible than steel. Somethin to think about

I have a book that says how to install them, (with pictures) , I got it from schucks, its HaynesXtreme Customizing- Sport Compact Performance. I would recomend picking it up.

If you dont want to fork over the 12.00 for the book, All you need to do is get some (1/4 to 1/2 " square aluminum tubing and screw it to your hood and use that as a bracket for the damper.. I have not done this yet so I cant tell you everything, but just look it up online, I am sure somone has a write up on it...

good idea, but dampers had a tendency to go out, which is why most cars don't have them.... granted, it takes a good amount of time for them to wear

but it would be a fun little mod

the tein ones are guaranteed to some insane amount of cycles.. if I was going to do them I would definetly try to grab a pair of teins.
