Default Battery indicator light

my 95 Civic has been sitting for a few months and I just started it again today. I put a new battery in and it took awhile to start. When it finally did there was some smoke for the first few seconds, I figured I flooded the engine alittle on a previous attempt. The battery light stayed on and I let it run for about 20 minutes to warm up. I figure its the alternator but am not sure if I should check anything else first.

Is replacing an alternator on the '95 a pain in the ass?

Check your alternator belt and the connections to the alternator. If you take it to autozone or advance auto they'll check it for you. If you can't I would make sure all the battery connection to the alternator are not faulty. About the smoke that norrmal if it sits for a while. About replacing the alt. its real easy.

If replacing the alternator with are remanufactured one, make sure you get a high quality one like Bosch or if possible Denso (OEM).
