Replace CV boot, axel, and OEM/aftermarket?
Car's getting old (97 civic ex sedan)
CV boots are getting old
I will NOT be doing this job myself.
I heard it's cheaper to just buy new axels (with the CV boots on them) than it is to replace just the CV boots on the current axel (because of labor). TRUE?
If so, should I go with OEM or aftermarket axels? If aftermarket, which brand/model?

If the CV boots aren't cracked and slinging grease, leave them. If they are cracked- it's about $40 for both boots or $60 for a new(reman) axle. I don't bother to replace the boot anymore- Autozone lifetime axle- much easier.
Not very hard to swap out the axle either, so don't get taken by someone doing this for you.

Any axle with a lifetime warranty that fits your budget. I bought a $60 axle, and it's brand new, and it rattles, and it's covered under warranty already. I just need to find time to swap it out.
I just bought the whole axle........way less hassle than trying to swap on the boot.......and if your boot has been cracked awhile chances are there is dirt and crap in there so you should just replace the axle anyways
