Default D16Y7 Intake Manifold Swap

The intake manifold on the d16y7 is so whack. I cant install a front strut bar on my car because the intake pipe gets in the way. I was wondering if I could just swap on another intake manifold, im thinking off of a d16y8 vtec. Would it work? Is it a direct bolt on or will I have to do some modifications?

its really easy... just remove some bolts and hoses... get a new gasket.. put the new manifold, plug everything back and connect some hoses and ur ready to go.....

Not quite that simple. I have a D16Y7 with D15 manifolds and I ended up with some small problems. The intake manifold gets it's coolant from the water pump tube @ the back of the block. You'll have to get the matching tube and coolant hoses from the car that the intake came from. Beyond that it's pretty easy.

well thats because u got a D15 manifold... manifolds from a Y8 is just plug and play.. the hoses are the same size and there is just one little thing that can cause a problem and that is the throttle body, if u get the throttle body from a Y8 there is no problem but if the TB is from a Y7 you have a choice of connecting a cable in 2 different places.. but it's ur choice... I'd recomend a d16y8 intake manifold.. it's the best manifolr for any d-series engine...

What brand of strut bar did you get? I have a Nuespeed and have no clearance issues.
