Default '99 Civic Si...should I buy?

Hey all,

There's a stock Si for sale right by my place, and the more I go by it the more I'm tempted to look into buying it. I currently have a '98 Eclipse GS that has quite a few mods and I really love the car. However, I think I might be able to get cheaper monthly loan payments by selling it, and I love the idea of owning another Civic. What are the pros and cons of selling the Eclipse?

PS - I know this is a Honda forum, and I expect to hear the whole "Mitsubishi's suck" line, but I'm looking for useful ideas & suggestions...thanks.

well, im pretty sure the Si is a tad quicker than the eclipse, and it being a honda is also a bit more reliable
id say if its lower payments go for it
its a better car as a base and/or stock for stock IMO
now if you had a gs-t, that be a diff story

Actually I think the the Eclipse is a tad faster due to more low end torque. BUt I could be wrong. I would go with what you think is right. Lower monthly payments is always a plus. But both cars are pretty good starter cars.

i'd never even consider getting an eclipse unless it was a GST or GSX.

besides the fact that i wouldn't really even consider getting an eclipse. ever.

You can find so much stuff for Honda's anywhere
Very nice cars if kept "Clean"
only thing is they are very prone to theft
And thier motors cost alot
Still i am very happy with mine

well i don't know where you live but around here its only a matter of time that anyone who owns an SI wil have it stolen. Everyone i knew that had one had it stolen.

kinda sucks that you can't have anything nice anymore without some asshole ****ing it up on you

Thanks for the input...I'm so torn about what to do. Like I said, I hate to give up the Eclipse because of all the time and work that's been put into it (full custom suspension, 2-tone custom leather interior, stereo, I/H/E, etc) but starting fresh on a stock Si sounds really appealing. I wish there was a way to own 2 cars, but my income just won't allow it... :wtc:

I'm in a pretty safe town...I live just outside of downtown, and the whole city might be 50,000 people. Stolen vehicles aren't unheard of around here, but it's pretty rare.

Doesn't the 4G63 used in the Evo and 1-2G Eclipse (correct me if I'm wrong) date its roots to the 1980s? heh
