Default Advantages/Disadvantages to lowering

I'm thinking about lowering my 2000 EX Civic Coupe, but am concerned about the disadvantages of doing this. Can anyone explain them to me. I remember my friend lowered his accord, and the thing was like a roller coaster. Oh BTW its on 17" rims. Thank you.

Default Lowering

Well it depends. Did your freind get some cheap spring. And how much did he lower it. Any ways i lowered my 95 civic EX and i like it. I used RS-R TI2000 lowering springs 1.6"front 1" rear and it rides great. If your gonna lower them then i recomend these spring. There titanium composite and they run for about $330 a pop. If you get cheap ass springs its gonna bounce around. Also if your gonna lower the car i recomend getting performance suspension along with the springs or if you have the money then screw the springs get yourself a dampening kit. But thos run around 1-2k

if you go too low you will need to get a camber kit or else you'll go through tires like butter in the sun. and the tires will rub if you have that big a rim. plan your routes carefully to avoid speedbumps and potholes. my friend is dropped insanely low with gc sleeves on the stock shocks and the ride is really unbearable over even the slightest bumps.

if you get quality springs and shocks they wont be bouncy.

Make sure you upgrade the shocks too or it will be really bumpy. I don't regret lowering my car ever because it looks better and handles like a dream. If you do it right the first time with quality shock and springs like snoopy said, you won't regret it.

No regrets at all about lowering my car. i am lowered 1.8 inches or so on Ground Controls with stock shocks. Its a little rough but nothing unbearable and this is with 18 inch rims

Common dis-advantages may include:
A harsher/less comfortable ride
Fender Rubbing
Too much negative Camber
Negotiating speed bumps

It will be atleast a little harsher, especially with 17's.
Fender rubbing should not be a problem unless you have really wide rims and/or if you drop it really low. I dropped my 91 Teg 2.5 f/r and it did not rub at all.
Camber, it is a good idea to get a camber kit with any amout of lowering
And speed bumps, not only speed bumps but all kinds of dips, potholes and other road hazards. But if you get a good setup should not be to much to weave around them
