Default might get this car

hey, i am looking into a '96 honda civic EX, it has about 100k miles on it and only 2 owners, both in same family... they want 3500 for it. it had new belts at 90k so that parts good.. only minor probs i think under 100$ to fix, the hinge for the exhaust broke off, the handbrake doesnt stay up(owner says cause of a spring, which if thats the case should be cheap to fix), and a minor dent on the rear right, could easly be popped out... my dad drove it as i have never driven stick before and he says its good.... he noted tho that the rear left door was a bit tight opening but not too sure what causes that... and yes its a 4 door but i dont care bout that part... car still looks good and taken care of well...

any comments or ideas would be great

thanks

You should run a carfax on the car. it is worth the money(<20). make sure the car has not been in an accident, that may be the cause of the door problem.

I don't trust carfax. Not because I don't believe what they're saying, but there are too many variables to take into account. I have a camaro that has definitely been in a pretty bad accident, both front fenders look good from the outside, but when I pop the hood, I can tell where they drilled holes to re-shape them. Also, I have a civic that was definitely in an accident because the front suspension doesn't line up at all, you can tell from the geometry that the body of the car took a collision when trying to put the suspension together. Both cars checked out OK on carfax. that's just my 2 cents.

Well if you've only got a certain amount of funds, $3500 doesn't sound too bad.

You can get it alot cheaper than $3500 on autotrader.com.

Here what I came up with:

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...en&cardist=232

2 mins. of searching.

Ah, the stick jerk...That brings me back from when i totaled my first civic. It was an auto. Bought the new one and it was stick. That jerk sucks, especially when you can't get rid of it from your foot hopping.
