I think when you first start the car after installing a new exhaust, the exhaust gas heats up and burns any excess materials in the pipe. Either that, or you have an exhaust leak somewhere.

i think its just breaking in like catatonic said. if the smell doesnt go away i think(not 2 sure) that your cat has gone bad.

The mandrel bending process involves pushing a ball bearing through the pipe while it is being bent to prevent the pipe from crushing. This process requires that the inside of the pipe be lubricated to aid the ball through the pipe. The lubricant then burns up when you drive. Don't worry about it... The smell will go away.

I know the WS is nice and quiet at low and mid RPM. What does it sound like at 5000+ rpm? (and what car do you have?)

Do you have a CAI or a ram intake?

Do you have a header? (421 or 41?)
