What do drum brakes have to do with it?

Mulak: When cars are designed, they are only safe up to a point. If you were to, say, smash a Civic or any similar small car in between two semis I guarantee the car is not going to survive. If you're looking for a really safe car, you probably need to get a bigger car. Or a truck.

Drum brakes don't make it any more or less of a tin can. Stopping distances are just longer on cars with drum brakes... making it a tin can that takes a little harder to stop despite its light weight, that's all.
