Default Metallic sound during engine rev

Well, first off, I know its not the best thing to rev your engine in nuetral, but regardless....

when I rev my engine up, around 5-6k RPMs, I hear this metallic scrapping sound :dunno:

its not so bad on the way up, but comming back down the Tach, its real obvious. Any clue what it is.

and yeah, its the D16y7 (I beleive? '96 lx w/ vtec)

first thing, pop your hood and flick your heat sheild on your exhaust manifold. If it buzzes, that's probably it. Tighten the bolts. If not, jack up the car and start hitting the exhaust every so often with a screw driver until you hear it buzz or rattle. Then either unbolt it, tighten it, or rip the sucker out. It doesn't add any noticeable amount of heat to the cabin... Anyone that tells you it does, will also tell you that a cat back system is enough to make your floor boards melt.

Also, check your header hanger. That thing can get loose and it rattles with a weird sound.
