Punch/Hammer <- major PITA.

Air chisel with a punch attachment. <- takes 2 seconds with this.

Several people are going to tell you to leave it connected. <- unweildy

I rigged something a long time ago with a HUGE pair of vise grips, a 14mm deep-welled socket, and a nail that was cut-in-half.

Get yourself an air chisel, and save yourself the greif. Honda recommends against re-using that pin even though there's a clip that holds it in place, and it's like $7. Something about the shifter getting sloppy with too much play. They call it a roll pin.

Well, it is an 8x20mm roll pin...

Anyway, I've taken an engine out with the linkage attached (major PITA) and one linkage blasted out with and air hammer/chisel in two seconds. Air tools = the shit.

Yeah, just use a punch and hammer. 8mm punch I believe. Some are stubborn and don't want to come out and some come out very easily. I hope you aren't the latter of the two because you will be hating that stupid pin by the end if you are.

If you must do it by hand, be sure to get a straight 8mm punch. It will work much better then a tapered punch.
