Default Need info on engines.. please help!

Well, I have recently purchased a 94 civic EX. They told me the engine had been replaced in it. ( I got a 6 month unlimited mile warranty btw). I checked the engine code on it ,and it reads D16A, and is a SOHC VTEC. I called the shop that did it and he said its an engine that came over from Japan. I believe I read before that Japan ships over engines due to a mileage law over there. He said he did not know exactly the mileage, but assured me it was between 45K-55K. Do you guys know anything about these engines? Like durablitily and horsepower/torque? Thanks for your help.

where are the spark plugs on this motor? toward the rear or the front of the valve cover? If to the rear the D16a6 is the best damn SOHC ever made. It has a 1:75 R/S ratio which is the same as the B16a. (and a ferrari 328) it has steel main caps, not like that aluminum one piece crap in Y series. The shape of the combustion chamber is excellent. It breathes better through the entire RPM range better than most B series. Its the same as the USDM 89-91 civic SI. But sorry buddy, the D16a6 isnt VTEC...slap a blower on it, you wont need VTEC. Vtec isnt everything...its just a concept

Thats wierd. The guy told me it was a 92-95 SOHC VTEC from Japan. Its got a VTEC valve cover if that means anything.

and if you go here http://www.enginereplacement.com/htdocs/honda.htm
you can see under honda 92-95 USED CIVIC ENGINE VTEC SOHC D16A VTEC.

Now im really confused..
