Default Making an engine lighter

aight well i have seen some ppl taking off some parts of their engine to make them lighter they took the ac and some other stuff dont know what so thats why im posting here so i could know how to make an engine lighter ....and if anybody could share your personall hp gains........that would be kool

IMHO making your engine lighter is probably one of the last things you would want to do to your car, and only if you're making a serious competition vehicle. There are so many other aspects of your car that can be improved that dwarf weight as an issue.

i got no power steering, and took off ac and took off window washer system.. it did a heck of a difference in acceleration. the only 2 belts that i have in my car is the timing and the alternatior belt.

That's not even all that much weight as to make a huge difference in acceleration.

Maybe the removal of all the parasitic loss due to powersteering+ac is what you are feeling.

better idea.. if u really want to reduce weight, stick what ever u have in your engine bay into a CRX! i'll wiggle my nose b4 u get on the scale but i bet it's lighter

i kno it's aluminum but..... maybe if u take the double stack wing off the back :dunno:

exactly......

damn taking off the power stering i know that a bitch when you hit corners

but taking off the ac wouldnt be that bad is there any other things you may take off
