Why go the hard way first? I never understand this... you can so easily test the battery by getting a jump and you don't have to remove a single bolt. Your call, but I just don't get it....

The lights dim because of the load that the starter is taking up.

The solenoid isn't repairable unless you replace the starter

the reason i didnt just test it by jumping it is cuz i didnt have another car to jump it with. and it turns out that it was the battery. why i didnt suspect the battery was because i had this same problem a couple of months ago but it just stopped happening and it was the same battery. so the problem is solved and now i dont have to walk to work anymore.
thanks everyone for the input

thanks

A little miss leading. You said you checked the battery thats why i went with the starter battery. Anyway its always dificult to diagnoses something when its not in front of you.
