Default Suspension Upgrade

I have a 97 Civic LX 4dr. It's pretty much stock. I wish it had some more power, but I dont have the $$$ to do anything that would be worth it, so I was wondering if there was anything inexpensive I could do to the suspension and get some better handling (I like to corner pretty hard). That reminds me, I'm going to need new tires before too long, and I have no idea where to start looking. Remember, I'm a college student, very short on cash, but I dont want crappy, worthless parts. Any ideas?

best bang per buck, omni full coilovers, a full set can be had for under 800, and from the reviews i heard and read, ppl love those things. i personally run skunk2 coilovers with koni yellow shocks and has never had a problem and they handle very good, better almost to my friends tein ss coilovers. start with coilovers, shocks and camber kits(if needed).

Yeah, $800 is definitely not in my price range. I'm looking at $500 or less. If there's nothing decent I can do for that much, that's fine, I was just curious.
