Default ecu options

here is the idea im swapping a OBD2 (1996 LS)B18b into a OBD1 (1994)Civic CX. Should I A. get a OBD1 ecu and Dizzy or B. get the ecu conversion harness to make the OBD2 ecu work with my setup....

I say sell the odb2 dist & ecu and buy obd1 parts. It's so much easier that way.

You can run all OBD2 engine items, but run an OBD1 ecu.

YOU DO NOT NEED TO CHANGE THE ENGINE OVER... once again, you can run all OBD2 engine parts, but just run an OBD1 ECU.

exactly, I have no idea why people think they have to convert over. It works perfectly. I've been running mine (OBD2b engine/distributor/injectors/etc on OBD1) for over two years now with no problems at all.

Now if you don't have the engine's harness that is different. The injector clips, distributor and alternator plugs are different for OBD2a/b to OBD1.
But since the LS injectors are almost exactly the same rate as DX/VX/SI D-series injectors, switch them. Since the alternator is the same output as your CX, switch it. And you can re-pin the LS distributor conector really easily.

First off...are you residing in CA. and do you plan to make it legal for emissions and street use? If you are residing in CA. you need to run the OBD2 setup for emission purposes.

Since I'm not in CA and thus don't have to keep track of the laws... I thought Emissions are based on the chassis. Since he has a 1994 CX he should be tested as that.
Or have they become an even larger PITA than I thought? (if that's possible)

you have to check with your local laws and local state laws for that. in california, it is the law that the engine must be same year or newer, and has to come out of a passenger car only.
