Default Clearing 96-98 tails?

If you open the housing of the stock tails on 96-98 coupe Civic, is the orange part something you can take out or do you have to sand the outside inorder to clear it?

I actually bought some 99-00 aftermarket tails and the outer red is fading to a pinkish color which looks bad. Im wondering how this origonaly was made since ive never seen any actual 99-00 stock tails fade in color.

You can't clear them, there's aftermarket ones that are red&white

Or you can pick up a set of Acura 1.6 EL tail lights, they're the same

this isn't for a sedan. this is for a coupe.

my vote is with 99-00 OEM tails.

I traded my red/clears for 96-98 amber ones. Now I just need an EX badge.

The aftermarket 99-00 tails I have are fading on the outer lights. Do any stock 99-00 tails have a fading of the red? Is there anyway I can get the red back since there is no way to replace that section of the light and its not a reflector inside the housing? Im thinking i am forced to paint over the light which I dont want to do cause i like the look of how it is. I just want the dark red back arggggggggggggggg
