Hey guys I got a 99 Civic and for the past 3 winters once the car warms up the idling drops to whatever the tiny line is 1mm up on the tach. I guess that's maybe 500rpm... it's enough to dim all my dash lights and cause the car to shake... and sometimes stall.

Anyways I was told to replace the EACV (had it cleaned by Honda... worked great for about a month... then back to shitsville again)... So I did... I got one from a wreck... installed it... now the problem is...

Idles ok til it warms up... then it jumps to 1700 for 5 seconds or so... drops to 800 then instantly back up to 1700 for a few 5 more seconds... then down to 800 then instantly back up to 1700... and it just keeps doing that.

Did I miss something... or do I have another bad EACV???

Any thoughts guys?

maybe, how many mileage does the car have? also just check for simple stuff like lose tb cable, cuz i had almost same problem like yours, but mine ran really high RPM when starting... found out my cable was really loose.

 

It's got 103,000 kms... from Canaduh! hehe
