Help: Lower control arm

Default Help: Lower control arm

So i've been trying with a pickle fork to get the lower arm off my 93 del sol's ball joint... and it's not working.. am i forgetting a step?

You'll break the boot if you do that. Try using the back end of a big axe, mallet, or huge hammer and hit it. Dont hit the bolts and mess them up. This may not be the proffessional way, but it works. I also jack the thing up a tad, with the bolt still on the end so it wont mess the threads up. This alows it to fall after you knock the crap out of it. Also, they make a tool that seperates it that you can rent or use for free i think at at Autozone, but i've never needed it.

To seperate the ball joint?

I usuall un screw the nut and with a couple of good hard hits with a hammer to the arm were the ball joint goes through, it should pop.

Thanks yo i got it... finally... changing my clutch out and the transmission wont break free from the engine... we've been over that thing 20 times looking for a bolt we missed..even looked at the guide on this forum posted a while ago... any ideas?

you checked under the water neck? there is usually two there.
