The only reason that i even got curious about this is, know that some of the newer integras have Knock sensors in them, although my motor doesnt, my ECU may be looking for it due to the fact that i've changed everything over to obd1 (dizzy, ecu, engine harness, ect.). I'd really like to know if the ECU requires it in it's lil self check before it allows the motor to start, because if it doesn't then technicly it wouldn't need it! At that point i jest need to know if not having it will hold it back from running properly.

You will not need the knock sensor if you're running an ECU from a motor that did not have a knock sensor. It's all about the ECU... if it is looking for it, you need it.

the only OBD1 ECU's I know of that have knock sensors are the P13(prelude), P30(92-5 DelSol), P54(EDM Accord), P61(92-93 GSR), and P72(94-95 GSR).

P74 & P75 were the non-GSR ECUs. no knock sensor in those.

BTW if the ECU needs one, the car will start and run. But the CEL will be on. Code 23
