Default Why is it falling on its face?

Hey guys well first i would like to say Im new to this Community (or gang) lol. I've purchased a 95 sol, dohc vtec, mmmm.... anyway i wanted to ask about my bros 89 hb. he has a zc swap. Well it basically falls on its face when its under a load. or when he backs out of the throttle quickly it studders like its gonna die. anybody have some ideas off the top of their head what it could be. We've changed the fuel pump and fuel filter (nasty), timed it, checked the injectors, checked for leaking vaccum lines, played with the fuel pressure regulater, changed the plugs, did a compression test, maybe more. i'm kinda stumped. any ideas? thanx
