Swap trend
How come I see so many hybrids for sale that have just been completed. are these ppl not happy with them? i have a 94 si that i want to drop a b18 into . it's my daily driver and i don't want something that i'm going to have to work on all the time. if this swap is done right what kind service can i expect ? like most, i work my si pretty hard all the time and it's been like the "energizer bunny" . If this is going to turn it into a hobby car i would rather just buy a used gsr.????? can i hear from some hybrid owners that have some time on them. thanks
it's like when you have more power, you want more power. that's all it is. i just put in my b18c1 into my 94 hatch and i want more power. it satisfy you for the first week or two, but after that it seems "slow" maybe that's the reason why people sell it. Or people just want something different. I say it's worth it. the engine is still a honda so expect the quality is a honda, unless you got a messed up motor. do your regular tune ups and oil change and that bad boy will run you forever.
i would almost bet reliability stays in terms of about 90% of what that stock engine brought you...but
its a civic...after you hybrid, thats it...theres nothing better...time to sell and get a new platform all together.

hehe... they'd usually sell when they just lost a 'street' race... to like an Sentra or something.

I've been hybrid for 2 years also. I bang through the gears on Friday's, and sometimes Saturdays. Friday's is almost a def day when I just drive my car hard.
No problems so far, they only problems I've faced are the ones a 10 year old chassis would face. I don't plan to sell my car; ever. For one thing you'd be a moron to drive my car daily, secondly I've got too much money in the car to sell. I'd lose entirely too much money. So I'm thinking I'm just gonna pour more money into it, and get it goin' faster and faster, and hold onto it till I blow it up a few times cause of too much boost.

bumnah has the right idea. I've been dedicated to my civic for over a year and honestly in that time atleast 50% of all I made last year went into her.
swapping shortly. selling never.
mines gonna be a hotrod parked next to my 2043 lexus coupe.

if i put a 5th of what i make this year into my car itll be more than the value of the car :ugh:
i think a lot of people are thinking the civic trend is over entirely and are moving on to "different cars." i see a lot of eclits and 'roo "wrecks" on the road right now...theyll be as played out as civics in the soon time. I really think Honda has to do soemthing spectacular to put itself back in the game, (S2K STYLE)

When i first got interested in civics, it was cool. It was (kinda) new, and very popular. I sold my beloved, but hopeless POS, supra turbo and bought a car with less than half the power. Having raced my car as a stocker for a couple years, I am now starting to go down the road to hybrid racer, and am only a fraction of the way there. Now that everything has already been done, and everyone has done it, I'm still interested in civics purely for the cost/pontential. When I'm older, and I can afford a nice new car, I'll buy it and be proud of it. But I'll keep my civic forever (assuming it doesn't get totalled) and and use it for weekend autocrosses, and who knows, maybe even prorally.
People are indecisive and have short attention spans... when it comes down to it, its all just a matter of dedication.
