How to install 96 Civic rear speakers?

This might be a dumb question but I looked everywhere and I don't see how I'm suppose to take off the rear speakers unless I take off the entire plastic trim that covers the back speakers under the rear window. Can some one please tell me how I'm suppose to remove the 6x9's in the back. Any help would be greatly appereciated. Thanks

You have to remove the entire back dash panel. It's a pain, but it can be done.
It's all held by clips so you just pull gently and it should start popping off.

ya its a major pain in the ass. in my coupe i had to fold down the rear seats, then pop off the side panels just enough to pop up the rear dash and pull it out. the side panels overlap ontop of the back one.
also watch out for the 3rd brake light wiring.

thats how i did it in my girls civic too, also you have to pop out the locking mechanism thats on the back dash for the rear seats, if you have it, that opens the seats.only took me about 45 minutes most of which was spent popping out the side panels and rear dash

Hmm, that really sucks, because I need to replace my passenger side rear speaker.

Anyone recomend a good speaker to replace the 2 rears with? I am trying to go all pioneer, that is what came stock with my car, so I got a pioneer headunit, 760watt amp, and 2 pioneer 12" subs in a Qlogic box.

I need somthin that wont give me to much bass, so I was thinking of 3 ways? What size are the stock rear speakers?

Sorry, not trying to jack this thread, just figured u got all the info u needed..

Yes that is what I want, but will they fit without modification? Because I am not about to cut/bend anything. I have been down that road with my prelude, and will never go back. (cut hole larger for deep 6" speaker, and the places I cut ended up cracking from body roll, and I had to take the speakers out, weld braces and fab up a bunch of crap.)

So if they will bolt in, I am all for some 3 way 6x9'z.

I think the whole back panel and removal of it is an extreamly poor design. You have to bend the side panels nearly to the point where you think they are going to break. Once you do this, it never fit in exactly as it was put on the first time since you've now bent the plastic inorder to get to the back panel. You will even scratch the damn thing if your not extreamly carefull. So entirley cheap if you ask me.

Awesome car though which is why I own a 98 coupe
