1) fold down rear seats

2) if you have a sedan, use a 10mm socket wrench and extension to remove a bold hidden between the bottom of the side bolster of the seat back and the back seat. It's a pain to get to and you'll have to squish the seat down just to see it. After removing this bolt, the side bolster can be lifted straight up to slide off.

3) pop the trunk and look under to release the tail light harness

4) get back inside the car and sit on top of the folded down seats. The whole plastic rear deck is one piece that comes off. You have to lift it up from the front enough to pop the 3 plastic clips under it.

5) pull the thing toward you to pop about 7 plastic rivets. You should be able to remove the rear plastic deck now which exposes the metal rear deck.

6) use a philips to unscrew the 4 screws on each 6x9. Detach the wiring harness.

7) replace with new speaker and reverse instructions.

You do not need to unbolt anything to get to the speakers. everything is just pop in and pop out clips and unclipping the 3rd light harness.

just pull the cushion forward from the top, lift the plastic sightly and move the seatbelts to the side, then pull the rear deck forward (you will see the tabs in the front) then push the white clips up from the under side of the deck in the trunk and then just lift it up.

sounds like the way i do buisness. hahaha. i would highly reccomend throwing a dynamat door kit in that trunk while you are back there.(i say door kit only because the trunk kit is waaayyyy too much for a civic, i had 12 sq feet from a 2 door kit and still have 4 sq feet left over) i just installed some when i did my 6x9's and it made a WORLD of difference. dont get it at best buy tho, its insanely expensive there. ebay all the way.
