I used to rub in the rear wheel wells, when my car was lowered with anyone in the car. After i got my fenders rolled The problem went away.
This was on 17x7 with 205/40/17 tires 40mm offset

Max: How do you like the omnis? which did you get? ive been doing some reading and overall most people are happy with them. I think I may buy them soon.

185/65x14"
195/55x15"
205/45x16"
205/40x17" (and actually it should be 215/35x17" but there is no such size)
Whoever told you doesn't know anything about cars.
For your car you would use (if you want to keep your speedo and odometer accurate):
185/65x15"
195/55x16"
205/45x17"
