The trannies are directly interchangeable, and why would you need a different clutch unless there is something wrong with yours?

Why would you switch your jdm gsr tranny for a type r tranny. If you want it just for the LSD,then you're better off keeping yours and installings a aftermarket LSD and while your in there throw the B16 1st and second gears and the you go a tranny stronger and better than a type r for a fraction of the cost

Fraction of the cost? How do you figure?
Quaife LSD = $900ish
B16 gears = whatever someone is willing to sell for, if you can find a parting out trans.
Labor to install properly = a few hundred bucks. Clearly this is not something the o/p can do himself.

So count on $1200 to modify the existing trans, and typically used ITR trannies can be had for that or a little less. Or, he can go on Ebay and buy brand new ITR trans for a bit over $1600 from some sellers. That leaves him with a good JDM tranny he can sell for $500-600 to recover some cash. So new ITR trans for close to $1000 out of pocket.
