Default quick question: difference between d16y8's?

back in the fall i picked up a y8 long block from a local guy. the guy i got it from was under the impression it came from california, because he said the intake mani was slightly different ..or something like that..

is anything on the head different than the rest of the y8's out there because it came from cali(stricker em laws and junk). any design differences or something that might cause leaks or something if i swap it onto my y7

thanks guys,

-Luke

ummm, the only reason the intake manifold would be different on a d16 is if its a y7 or a y8

sounds shady to me :dunno:

yah i mean i had never heard of any differences but i thought i'd ask.

well i'll take a pic of my y8 mani(did not come on the cali longblock i bought), the IM gasket(straight from honda) aswell as the gasket on the head. cuz it looks like there is a slight change in design but i don't think it will affect anything. but im not sure if theres other changes i don't know of or somethin.. ehh just second guessing myself i suppose

any one else?

I have a d16y8 in my 99ex..came with the car..could you possibly give me a picture of the manifold? I cant really tell enless I see it.I dont think the mani should be ANY diff..enless it indeed was a y7 witch means its a non-vtec.Also like I said I would need to see it.

haha no guys the long block is DEFFINITLY a y8. block says y8, and the head is deffinitly the vtec head(with solenoid etc etc)

and i know for a fact the head and block went together(piston melted from nitrous and you can see oil on the tops of the valves etc of the cooresponding cylinder on the underside of the head)
no damage to the head tho.

but i'll grab some pics tomorrow

the head he is selling is possibly a z6 head if the mani is different. the diff between a y7 and y8 is obvious and the diff between the y8 and z6 are obvious to most but not some.

almost certain its a z6 head on a y8 block or z6 intake mani on a y8 head and block.

ok, I'm almost 95.25% sure that there are absolutely no differences between states and emmisions on the d16y8. there shouldn't be any differences. if the exhaust manifold has a cat in it, its from a d16y7.

k i got some pics. notice the differences between the gasket and the mani and the gasket and the head etc.

also on the head you can see some old gasket residue on places the new gasket or mani isn't even touching.

lemme know what you guys think
