a pint? youre going to need a hell of a lot more than that. i think when i painted my soap box car it was like several pints, but that was long ago.

enamel -- its like the cheapest way to go, it was a shot.

the most expensive of course is a urethane base coat/clear coat, which i think is some sort of lacquer...but im not real "up" on my paint trivia. its something i can do if i have to, and i know its expensive. im pretty sure materials for a car should cost from a body shop like $150-$300 just depending on the colour/paint type.

that really all depends on how serious youre going, byut yeah, sounds like the maco way to play. sounds like hell spend some time with the acetone around the rubber gaskets on his windshield

well it's your car.

if you are gonna do it, do it right i say.

going the extra step in everything gives you the advantages, and you won't see "oh **** i ****ed up there, and there, and there, and there, there there, there there there......

plus on hatches you only have like 3 windows to remove
the hatch window can be bolted off and the door windows aren't even really an issue.

windshield, and the side windows.

pretty cake.
remove door handles, and locks and so forth....

no, you take things like fenders and grills and body effects off so you can get a really good layer all around the edges. things like to get in there and pick away at the new paint layer. youre not doin gyour engine bay...but i guarantee the door edges and things will start to peel quicker without getting a good coat in there.

its sort of a horse a piece, you really cant beat the stock colour that comes on your car, the only thing to do is to strip parts piece by piece, or just take care if your original paint...

youre a real prick, but your paint still looks damn nice, i dont see the reasonin behind repainting the car...when you know it wont be up to snuff.

enamel is nasty, you dont want that on a car...cheapasses and DIY boys do that, its horrendous. urethane is nice, but you gotta damn well know what youre doing.
