Default vtec vs. i-vtec; DOHC vs. SOHC

i know this is stupid but can someone kindly answer the questions below for me. i would really aprreciate it. Thanks.

1. how does a v-tec engine work, and why is it considered as a very good engine.
2. what's the difference between a vtec engine and an i-vtec engine? which is better?
3. how does a dohc engine work compared to an sohc engine. what's their "big" difference?

1. VTEC uses two seperate cam lobes to alter performance below and above a certain set rpm. It is considered a good engine, because it uses this technology to help get the best of both worlds as far as low end and high end performance.
2. I-VTEC is the next generation of VTEC. I am not really sure on I Vtec so I dont wanna blow smoke up your ass about it.
3. The big difference is that a DOHC motor has two cams where as a SOHC engine uses one cam. With a DOHC there is one cam for the intake valves, and one for the exhaust. The SOHC uses one cam to lift both the intake and exhuast valves.
