New member with a quick story to tell. . .
Well hey to all HAN users out there. I've been monitoring this board for a little over 3 months but just joined because I finally had some free time to do so.
The story that I had has to do with me getting pulled over by Phoenix's finest because of interior lighting that they said was "unacceptable." When the officer was through, he had cited me for four violations: no seat belt, no proof of insurance (it had just expired and my insurance co. hadn't sent the new cards), blue interior lights and a restriction on my license that required me to wear corrective lenses.
Well, since I work at a law office, I did some research on the corrective lenses citation (which is a criminal offense). I found out that you have to have at least 10/40 to be able to drive without them. Since my vision is 10/30, I went to the DMV and got a new license issued without the restriction, a letter from my eye doctor, pics of my car before and after I took out the lights and a copy of my insurance.
Long story short, I took them all into court and the judge dismissed all charges except a $10 no seatbelt fee.
The cop was so pissed that he had turned red and was frowned up. I felt good because I know so many import drivers in town that get harassed regularly with this kind of crap. I'm just glad that he couldn't pull this one off.
Sorry if I went on this long, but I had to share this with someone. Nice to be a part of this community with come of the cleanest cars that I have seen in a while. (I'll have pics of mine up soon.)
