Default What are you guys paying for bearings and half shafts?

I am getting both my half shafts replaced for $150/side and the passenger side bearings replaced for $150. I've checked, and half shafts from the auto parts store are $120/side. I'm thinking the $450 I was quoted is a fair price. What have others paid.

It's on a 95 Civic LX BTW.

axles are only 60 bucks a side after core return, and what the hell bearing are you talkinga bout, wheel bearing?

I dunno man...if you have a jack and a socket wrench you could do your axles super easily and save yourself a hell of a lot of money.

$60 after a core return eh? hmmm.

Yes, wheel bearings. The right front ones are whining and clanking around turns.

what all's involved in replacing the axles? remove tire, remove brake assembly, disconnect from spindle, remove from tranny, replace axle and return everything?

yup..or you can do it the super easy way, which doesnt involve any balljoints or anything...just 5 bolts and pull the axle out...dont need to touch the breaks....

hell the hardest part about doin an axle is gettin the axle nut off.

You know what, I'm sure it is pretty easy...but i can't do wheel bearings. I am going to have to pay to get those done. so I'll let my laziness take over and just get the shop to replace all of it.

Just wondering....how do you remove the axle without getting the LCA / lower ball joint bolt out? I had to hammer real hard over 10 times with a sledge hammer on the sides of the LCA to loosen up the lower ball joint bolt. I would love to learn an easier method of doing this....Thanks
