Default 04 civic problem

this is about a friend's civic, who is away at college. so i can't describe the problem from personal experience, only from what she's telling me.

the civic is about a month old, 2004 LX sedan. my friend is saying that when she goes over a speed bump, she hears a pretty distinct "clunk". she says it's coming from the front but she can't determine which side. and she can feel it through the floorboard/pedals.

this might not be related, but a couple days after she got the car, she thought the alignment was off (her dad thought so too). the car would drift on a straight road. so they took it back to the dealer, but they pretty much avoided actually checking the alignment at all costs. they told her a bunch of bullshit about how they fixed it by adjusting the tire pressure (even tho her dad checked the tire pressure before they brought it in)... next they took it on a test drive and said it was within spec - HOW can they tell that the alignment is within spec just by driving it? sounds like a bunch of bullshit to me. anyways, like i said i'm not sure if it could be related, but thought i should mention.

so, without any additional information, do you have any idea what the problem could be? it's not affecting her regular driving (yet), and nothing else seems to be wrong.. but that's not a happy thing to be hearing in a month-old car.

did she go through any rough roads or hit any bad potholes?

if the alignment and everything else is all good...the only thing i can think of is a broken tie rod or control arm.... although im not too familiar with the new civic front suspension setup.

if it was related to operator error (hitting a curb) , they will not fix it under warranty, however if it is a defective part from the factory, they will repair/replace it.

no curbs were hit - in fact, nothing was hit. if there's a problem it's a defect

not gonna **** with the car, how did anyone get that in their head? i just wanted to get an idea of what might be wrong.
