First civic
I decided to get rid of my 88 Dodge as im fed up with it needing repairs all the time. I decided to buy a civic as I know they typically run quite well without needing huge repairs all the time. ANyways, I already found one that I might buy (just have to make sure there is nothing wrong with it), its a 93 LX sedan. I have no info at all on the thing and cant seem to find any, Ive tried google and that but all I got were sites that were for parts and things like that. Any ideas as to what kind of engine is in it? Also, are there any auper cheap ways to boost the HP in those a little bit?
Thanks
Thanks
a 93 Civic, that probably has the D15 in it, ya and that motor is pretty much gutless. Get some Hp out of that motor for super cheap, not happening. Swap a b16 in there. then you can do some stuff. Think of it this way.....with gas prices where they are today, the D15 is an awesome motor.
Really?? Gutless? that seems wierd cuz the dodge I have now has the same power as the civic (i just found that out but thats all i know) and its not all that gutless, plus the civic is probably quite a bit lighter than the dodge.
Depending on what you want to do, there are several ways to go. If you are just daily driving it, I would find parts that would keep or give you some low end to mid range torque. Once you start losing it and gaining high end, you'll get a little pissed during daily driving as to the slugishness through 4k rpm.
cheap things I can think of are k&n filter... ummm haha I dunno. Nothings cheap really unless you buy ebay or do some weight reduction such as stripping out your whole trunk, removing a/c, so on and so on. Though you could spend money on things that will improve looks and performance at the same time ... i.e. Lightweight wheels.
How much are you looking to spend anyways?

I wouldnt suggest a CAI. For the price you pay on it and the risk you take on sucking in water, It's just as good to get a better flowing filter such as the K&N or Spoon as it will give just about the same HP gains from what i've learned.

My opinion is that if you aint got the go, don't do the show. My car is slow as hell, but I don't care with gas as expensive as it is. I spent my dough on suspension, wheels and brakes. That makes for a car that is great on gas, but fun to drive. I certainly can't race anyone, but I can zip around a corner or a slow moving car with great ease.
